Texas Oversized Load
Accident Lawyers

J. Alexander Law Firm represents Texans seriously injured when an oversized load turns a public road into a crash scene. The firm investigates whether the trucking company, escort service, shipper, or another business failed to plan the move, secure and control the load, or warn and protect nearby drivers, and builds the evidence needed to hold every responsible company accountable for medical expenses, lost income, and other crash-related losses.

Hit by an Oversized Load: One of These Four Failed

Before a wide, tall, long, or unusually heavy load reaches your road, someone selects its route, assigns its driver, decides whether escorts are needed, and puts cargo on the trailer. After a crash, the question goes past who hit whom: the question is whether the move had room, warning, control, and a driver prepared to make it safely.

The four failures below can explain an oversized load accident:

  1. The Carrier Chose the Wrong Route

The load reached a road where it could not safely fit.

    J. Alexander Law Firm checks the permitted route against the place where the crash happened: bridge clearance, curves, work zones, intersections, shoulders, and oncoming traffic. A carrier fails when its own route decision leaves the load unable to stay in its lane or clear what is ahead.

  2. The Escort Did Not Guide the Load Safely

The warning did not reach the driver or the drivers ahead in time.

An escort is supposed to see the road ahead of the load and communicate what the truck driver cannot see. The escort fails when the escort is missing, too far ahead, out of position, distracted, or silent when traffic needs time to react. Step 2 below lists the escort records J. Alexander Law Firm requests to check it.

  3. The Driver Was Not Ready for the Move

A commercial license does not prove experience with this load.

In Mesquite, the driver said our client was in a blind spot; witnesses said the truck had swerved before the collision. In an oversized load crash, J. Alexander Law Firm examines the driver’s training, prior moves, dispatch instructions, hours, route, and judgment before accepting a driver’s explanation.

  4. The Cargo Was Not Kept Under Control

The load moved, extended, broke free, or became a road hazard.

Cargo has to stay where it was placed from the loading dock through the trip. J. Alexander Law Firm investigates whether the cargo was loaded, balanced, secured, inspected, and monitored well enough to keep it from shifting, reaching into traffic, falling, or striking a structure.

What Happens the Week You Call Us

A truck claim can turn on records that do not come from the crash scene. In the Mesquite case, the report, witnesses, driver statement, vehicle damage, medical records, and available video gave the firm material to use after the insurer opened low. An oversized load case adds permits, route records, escort communications, cargo files, and truck data.

  1. The Company Is Already Building Its Story. We Get the Plan It Filed.

The firm requests the permit, route, dispatch, and escort records, then compares them with the crash.

The carrier’s move may have started with a permit application stating the load’s size, route, dates, and escort information. J. Alexander Law Firm requests TxDMV (the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles) permit information, carrier dispatch records, and the escort company’s file, so the firm can test the planned move against the road, the collision, and the account the company gives later.

  2. You Bring the Dashcam. We Get the Escort’s Video and the Truck’s Data.

The firm seeks the escort video, radio calls, truck data, and cargo records before they disappear.

A driver may say the load had nowhere to go or that another vehicle created the problem. Video, radio traffic, ECM and ELD data (the engine computer and the electronic driving log), dashcams, GPS information, and cargo records can test that account. J. Alexander Law Firm sends preservation letters before video overwrites, equipment is repaired, or records are lost; those letters are how the firm evaluates competing stories.

  3. You See a Logo on the Door. We Find Every Company Behind It.

The firm investigates the companies that planned, loaded, escorted, carried, and insured the move.

The permittee may not be the only company involved. J. Alexander Law Firm identifies the motor carrier, escort service, shipper, cargo loader, trailer owner, equipment owner, and broker when the facts call for it. The inquiry matters because the answer to why the load reached your lane may sit in a different company’s file.

  4. You Ask About the Money Before You Hire Us

People call J. Alexander Law Firm after a crash with the same practical questions: “Do I have to pay anything today?” “How will I get medical treatment?” “Is the fee separate from my medical bills?” and “Who decides whether I accept an offer?”

We answer those questions before you sign. The firm’s fee is 33⅓% if the case resolves before a lawsuit is filed and 40% if filing becomes necessary, plus a $300 administrative fee. We explain how case expenses and medical bills are handled, and no settlement is accepted without your approval.

It meant a lot to me because it meant that they were not just working on a case. They were working with me personally.

I was rear ended. I was at a stop. I’m the one that got hit. I didn’t hit anyone.

I wasn’t, you know, kept in the dark or anything. I knew pretty much everything that was going on with the case.
