Facts After a Head-On Collision.

We evaluate other evidence besides the crash report: damage to the vehicle, road markings, debris, dashcam video, photographs, and witness information. In addition to revealing precise vehicle positions, turning movements, and evasive actions, these details can also reveal factors that the initial report may have missed.

We will check whether your statement is included in the report, whether cameras covered the collision, and whether witnesses can still be reached. We also review your own policy, including uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, since changes to coverage or declarations pages may affect what is available to you.

Are You at Fault?

Because the other driver's version appears in a police report, or an adjuster repeats it back to them, a person may assume it is now permanent. It is not.

Police reports are compiled from information found at the scene, but they do not contain all the evidence.

No Coverage?

You can feel like the conversation is over when your own insurer says you declined uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. It is important to review the declarations page and the policy documents before accepting the first answer.

Drivers are added and removed, vehicles are replaced, and coverage selections and waivers may matter.

No Health Insurance?

This is the most common reason people wait, and it costs them twice: medically, because injuries that worsen over time may require surgery later; and on the claim, because a long gap between the crash and the first appointment can be used against the case.

Not having health insurance does not automatically mean no options.

How J. Alexander Law Firm Helps.

We take the burden off you: we manage communications, monitor your file, and pursue your recovery while you focus on healing.

We Handle Insurance Calls.

Tired of talking to a different agent every week? Worried about saying the wrong thing? Let us handle the communications; the claim is handled through our firm, not you.

Your Car Is in a Tow Yard.

While your insurance company decides whether to repair the vehicle, declare it a total loss, or pay its value, tow yard storage fees can add up quickly. Your vehicle claim is separate from your injury claim. Ask about both early on so you know when and what decisions need to be made.

We Organize Bills, Records, and Medical Balances.

In the aftermath of the crash, hospital bills, therapy statements, insurance letters, and medical records may continue to arrive. We collect these records, communicate with providers and insurers, and track any outstanding balances or repayment claims on the case.

Before you accept a settlement, we explain what will be deducted for attorney's fees, case costs, and medical bills so you understand the estimated amount you may receive.

You Have a Named Case Manager.

In addition to a direct phone number and a number you can text, you will have a case manager you know by name. We check in on your case every 14 days, even if records are pending, treatment is ongoing, or insurance is awaiting a response.

Head-On Collision Questions

Still have questions?

The fastest way to get an answer is a free call with someone who can hear what actually happened, review the information you have, and explain the next steps.

Call (817) 330-2744
How Much Does It Cost to Hire You?

You pay no attorney's fee unless we recover money for you. Cost is a question many people hesitate to ask, but you should ask it on the first call.

We will explain how our fee works, what case costs may apply, and what the written agreement says before you sign anything.

What Comes Out of a Settlement?

The settlement amount is not always what you take home. There may be bills, liens, or reimbursement claims from medical providers, health insurance companies, and health plans that must be paid out of a recovery.

You should understand the numbers before you accept a settlement offer. Ask about attorney's fees, case costs, medical balances, and the expected net amount before you accept it.

I Was Told I Did Not Have Uninsured Motorist Coverage. Is That Final?

It depends on the policy, what coverage you chose, whether a waiver or rejection was actually signed, and what happened. Policies can also change over time as drivers, vehicles, and coverage selections change.

Bring your declarations page when you call. We can review it, tell you what coverage might be worth looking into, and identify UM or UIM coverage and open a claim if needed.

How Do I Get My Fort Worth Crash Report?

FWPD directs crash reports through TxDOT's CRIS system. A crash report may not be searchable for up to 14 days after the crash. Contact the Fort Worth Police Department Records Unit at 817-392-4160 if it is not available after 14 days.

If you get the report but the codes and wording do not make sense, you can call us for a free review of what it says.

How Long Do I Have to File a Claim?

In Texas personal injury cases, the deadline to file a lawsuit is generally two years from the date the claim accrues. In some situations the deadline may be shorter, such as claims against a government entity.

Practical deadlines tend to be shorter. Vehicle damage can be repaired or destroyed, video can be overwritten, and witnesses become harder to find long before the legal deadline. Talk to a lawyer about the deadlines in your case.
