The Adjuster Starts With Your Police Report
Adjusters read the CR-3 codes too, so a mistaken code turns into the insurer’s opening position unless someone pushes back early. That is why we send preservation letters for camera video before it is erased, track down witnesses, and gather your medical records.
Photos, video, and statements from witnesses can outweigh an officer’s mistaken entry.

Have A Police Report? Want To Know What It Means?
The fault code next to your name reflects what the officer thought at the scene, not a final ruling. Enter the codes from your CR-3 to see, in plain English, who the officer faulted, how each injury was rated, and how the vehicle damage was scored.

Denton Crash Snapshot
How many crashes happen in Denton?
TxDOT recorded 14,051 reported crashes in Denton from 2021 through 2025. The firm’s review of those CRIS reports found that in 364 of them someone was killed or seriously hurt, and 68 people were killed.
- 46.1% of those crashes happened at an intersection or were tied to one.
- 2,502 reported crashes were on I-35E, more than any other Denton road we reviewed.
- 45 crashes on US 377 killed or seriously hurt someone, the most of any road we reviewed.
Which Denton intersections see the most crashes?
- 530 crashes where I-35 meets US 380.
- 466 where US 77 meets US 377.
- 365 where I-35E meets Loop 288.
- 350 where Loop 288 meets US 377, with 14 that killed or seriously hurt a person, the highest of any intersection we reviewed.
US 377 keeps going south into Hood County. Near Cresson, a tractor trailer pulled across our client’s green light where US 377 meets SH 171, and Laura Rivas resolved the $325,000 Hood County case during litigation.
How do Denton’s main crash types compare?
- 3,739 rear end crashes, with 13.4 of every 1,000 fatal or serious.
- 1,588 T bone crashes; 20.8 per 1,000 were fatal or serious.
- 1,384 left turn crashes, 35.4 per 1,000 of them fatal or serious, against 25.9 per 1,000 for all Denton crashes.
What do these numbers mean for your claim?
These numbers do not decide who caused your wreck. They show why Denton cases often need a closer look at the traffic light, lane changes, speed, what each driver could see, and any video.
Source: J. Alexander Law Firm review of TxDOT CRIS crash reports for Denton, January 2021 through December 2025, pulled September 30, 2026. “Killed or seriously hurt” means at least one person was listed as killed or suspected seriously injured. Intersection figures cover crashes at or tied to an intersection on Denton’s ten busiest highways, counting both ways a crash can be recorded. Crash types follow the firm’s crash index definitions.
What We Look For After A Denton Crash
-

When the other driver tells a different story
When drivers disagree about what happened, the crash report may not settle the issue. This can happen after a rear end crash, lane change crash, left turn crash, or T bone crash.
The details can matter. A report may not show which driver had the green light, whether a flashing yellow arrow was active, whether a vehicle changed lanes, or how the impact occurred. Video, independent witnesses, photos of vehicle damage, and evidence from the scene can help clarify the facts.
$82,500 Plano company truck left turn
On December 23, 2024, our client was driving through the intersection of Legacy Drive and Dallas Parkway on a solid green light. A company pickup made a left turn across his path. The crash report listed the pickup driver as failing to yield, and City of Plano cameras captured the collision.
Full Plano case detailsEven with the report and video, the commercial insurer rejected a policy limits demand and requested records from before the crash. Associate attorney Sameer Assanie resolved it during litigation in June 2026.

When a work truck or several cars are involved
A crash involving a company truck or delivery van may raise questions about both the driver and the company. The evidence may have to show who employed the driver, whether the driver was on the clock, and what insurance coverage applies.
In a chain reaction, the order of impacts is often important. A driver whose vehicle hits another car may have been pushed forward by a vehicle behind them. The vehicle in the middle of the collision is not automatically the one that caused it.
$600,000 Rockwall County chain reaction
Our client was stopped on SH 205 when a restoration company driver failed to control speed, hitting her vehicle. The impact triggered a five vehicle chain reaction.
Full Rockwall County case detailsThe claim involved evidence about the sequence of impacts, the commercial driver, and the client’s injuries. She was hospitalized for 12 days, underwent ankle surgery, completed inpatient rehabilitation, and had a claim for permanent scarring. The case settled during litigation.
-

When the driver leaves or has no insurance
A claim may still be available when the other driver leaves the scene or cannot be identified. Video, witness accounts, vehicle debris, and police follow up may help identify the vehicle or driver.
If the other driver is never found or has no insurance, uninsured motorist coverage under your own policy may be available. Coverage depends on the terms of the policy and the facts of the crash.
$30,000 UM claim after a Harris County hit and run
Shortly after midnight on FM 1960, a Jeep leaving a restaurant parking lot crossed into our client’s path. The driver left without exchanging information.
Full hit and run case detailsBecause the other driver was not identified, the client made a claim through her own uninsured motorist coverage. Her policy paid its full $30,000 bodily injury limit.
Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Every case depends on its facts, injuries, available evidence, insurance coverage, and applicable law. Amounts are gross recoveries before fees, expenses, and liens.
The Records That Build The Claim
-

The crash and the proof
We start with the certified crash report and read the officer’s narrative, diagram, and fault codes line by line.
Then we go after what the report can’t hold: camera footage, witness accounts, and damage photos that show where each car was hit.
-

The vehicle and the insurance
We find out who owned the vehicle and whether the driver was working.
Then we line up every policy that can pay: the at fault driver’s, a company’s commercial policy, and your own UM/UIM coverage.
-

The injury and the recovery
We build a timeline of your care, from the first ER visit to MRIs, injections, and therapy.
When doctors recommend future care, like the neck and back surgeries in the Pasadena case, we document that too.
Before mediation, we walk you through the strongest evidence in your file, the arguments the other side is likely to make, the offer being made and its terms, and what comes next if the case does not settle. If a fair settlement is not possible, we get the case ready for trial.
