Who Is at Fault After a Semi Truck T Bones Your Car
A truck T bone accident is a crash in which the front of a truck hits the side of another vehicle, these tend to happen when a truck runs a red light or turns left across your lane. You do not need the whole story sorted out before that first call. Four callers started with one of these questions, and this is what our staff told them.
Real callers have called our office with these:
-
My light was green when the other driver ran a red turn arrow.
Our staff tells you: A driver who runs a red light usually carries the fault for the crash.
Our staff hears: Which light turned first is the detail you keep replaying.
Our staff adds: Write down the moment the light changed while the memory is fresh.
-
The other driver’s work van is supposed to have a dash cam.
Our staff tells you: Commercial vehicles usually have a dash cam.
Our staff hears: Video from a commercial vehicle can show the moment of impact, and it can also be erased.
Our staff adds: The company can always say the video was erased, so ask for that video right away.
-
The other driver admitted he never saw me because he was on the phone.
Our staff tells you: An apology at the scene does not always hold.
Our staff hears: An admission feels like the end of the argument, so you worry what could change later.
Our staff adds: The other driver can change the story later, when speaking with the insurer.
-
I was hit on my left side, and now my whole left side hurts.
Our staff tells you: Pain lands on the side that was struck, so the hurt on that side makes sense.
Our staff hears: You need the pain on the side that was hit taken seriously.

Truck Failure to Yield Settlements for Clients in Your Shoes
Four J. Alexander Law Firm clients started where you are now. Each was in a crash with a commercial truck or company vehicle that failed to yield, and two of those trucks were turning left. Each step here comes from the clients’ published case results, in the order it happened.
The four case results and their settlement amounts:
In Round Rock and near Midland, the truck crossed our client’s path and our client’s vehicle struck its side. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Amounts are gross recoveries before fees, expenses and liens.
Real steps from these four settled claims:
-
The same day
They Got Emergency Care Within Hours
The Plano client reached the emergency department about three and a half hours after the crash.
The Round Rock client sought emergency care on the day of the crash, and the Midland client was evaluated at a hospital that day. Four days later, the Plano client’s provider referred him to physical therapy and a neurologist and ordered MRIs of his neck and low back.
-
Within two weeks
Their Treatment Started and Kept Going
The Round Rock client began chiropractic care about one week after the crash and attended 23 visits.
The Hood County client attended 26 chiropractic visits from September 9 through December 9, 2024, after an August 28 crash, and stayed in pain management for more than a year. The Plano client completed about 24 physical therapy visits and could do his work duties at the end of care.
-
The crash report
The Officer Named the Truck Driver
In Hood County, the crash report named the truck driver as the driver who contributed to the crash and listed nothing against our client.
In Plano, the police report identified the truck driver’s failure to yield while turning left, and City of Plano camera footage captured the collision. An independent witness was traveling on the same road. Near Midland, the officer found the company driver failed to yield.
-
The company
The Firm Identified the Company Behind the Truck
In Round Rock the police wrote no account of the crash, and the client’s photo of a business card helped identify the company connected to the vehicle.
The Round Rock client reported that the driver was later found to be uninsured and without a valid license, and the firm’s investigation continued. In Plano, a company’s commercial insurance covered the pickup. Near Midland, the company’s business auto insurer handled the claim.
-
The insurer
The Insurer Pushed Back and the Claims Still Resolved
In Plano, the truck’s insurer turned down the firm’s demand for the full policy amount and offered less, on the condition that the client sign a full release. J. Alexander Law Firm resolved the Plano claim after filing a lawsuit.
Near Midland, the insurer did not at first accept the demand for the full policy amount and disputed parts of the injury claim, and that claim resolved before a lawsuit was filed. The Round Rock claim also resolved before a lawsuit, and the Hood County claim resolved after one was filed.

What Clients Say About Working With This Firm
Settlements are one measure of a law firm. Two clients describe how the firm treated them, in their own words.
It meant a lot to me because it meant that they were not just working on a case. They were working with me personally.
From Red Lights to Farm Road Crossings:
Six Texas Offices
The Texas DPS commercial driver handbook tells truck drivers they need a much larger gap than a car to cross traffic, at a city red light or a farm road crossing. Wherever a truck did not leave you that gap, J. Alexander Law Firm handles truck T bone accident claims from offices in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and Canton.
If you are still in the hospital, an attorney can come to you. J. Alexander Law Firm can also meet you at home or by video.

Alexander Law Firm does not create an attorney client relationship, which is formed only by a signed written agreement. Please do not share confidential information until a representation agreement is in place. Case results described here were obtained on behalf of clients across Texas and Oklahoma; they are not necessarily truck T bone accident outcomes, and past results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in any future case. The firm handles many matters on a contingency fee basis, meaning no attorney fee is owed unless a recovery is obtained; clients may still be responsible for case costs as set out in their agreement.
