Richardson Car Accident Data: 8,681 Reportable Crashes

How many crashes happen in Richardson?

J. Alexander Law Firm’s September 29, 2026 query of TxDOT’s Crash Records Information System identified 8,681 reportable crashes in Richardson from 2021 through 2025, including crashes on the main lanes of US-75 and President George Bush Turnpike. Of those crashes, 51 were fatal and 231 more involved a suspected serious injury. In all, 55 people died and 270 people had suspected serious injuries.

Richardson sits in both Dallas and Collin counties, with about two-thirds of the city in Dallas County, and the crash records follow that split.

  • 6,730 crashes occurred on the Dallas County side of Richardson.
  • 1,951 crashes occurred on the Collin County side.
  • 282 crashes involved at least one person who was killed or recorded with a suspected serious injury.

How common were left-turn crashes in Richardson?

Left-turn crashes accounted for 15.1% of Richardson’s reported crashes from 2021 through 2025. According to the firm’s Texas Left Turn Crash Index, that was the highest share among the large Texas cities measured in that study.

Method: “Richardson” means the city listed on the crash report. A serious crash is one where at least one person has a fatal injury (K) or a suspected serious injury (A) on the report. The 55 deaths and 270 serious injuries count people, not crashes.

How We Build a Richardson Car Accident Claim Before Evidence Is Lost

  • Bumper debris recovered after the crash on I-30 in Mesquite

    Preserve the crash record

A crash report is only one part of the record. Depending on the case, useful evidence may include scene photos, vehicle damage, witness information, available video, roadway conditions, traffic details, and statements made after the collision.

  • The client's spouse's handwritten impact statement describing the changes she observed after the crash

    Document the medical timeline

Pain does not always appear immediately. A well-documented claim follows the injury from the first symptoms through medical visits, imaging, therapy, pain management, missed work, and changes in daily life.
