Matthew Graham.
The litigator who knows
how insurers think.
R. Matthew “Matt” Graham is a 2000 graduate of Texas A&M University School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan University School of Law) and brings more than two decades of civil litigation experience to the J. Alexander Law Firm team.
Over the course of his career, Matt spent more than a decade representing insurance companies in trials throughout the Southwest United States, and also served as Director of Subrogation Litigation for a 10-state region of the nation’s second-largest automobile insurance carrier.
Matt knows that a hands-on approach to the practice of law, along with a willingness to take the fight to the other side, are the keys to success in personal injury litigation. His record of trial successes is the result of an unwavering commitment to preparation and attention to detail.
He is licensed to practice law in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, and admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, the District of Colorado, and the District of New Mexico.
Two decades on the
other side; now on yours.

Insurance Defense; Southwest Trials
More than a decade representing insurance companies in trials across the Southwest United States. Saw firsthand how carriers evaluate, delay, and defeat injured-party claims; the reserve formulas, the deposition tactics, the closing-argument blueprint they hand their lawyers.
Subrogation Litigation, 10-State Region
Led subrogation litigation across a 10-state region for the nation’s second-largest automobile insurance carrier. Inside view of how the other side staffs cases, sets reserves, and decides which files to fight versus settle.

Pivoted to representing injured people and families. Brought the institutional playbook with him; not as a leak, but as a working tool every day.

Where his trial experience matters most.
Matt directs the firm’s litigation department. He personally tries the cases where insurance carriers are most likely to dig in; high-exposure trucking, catastrophic injury, multi-state coverage disputes, and bad-faith claims.

25+ Years Civil Litigation
Trials across the Southwest U.S.
I spent more than a decade defending insurance carriers. I know exactly how they evaluate a file, where they will dig in, and how to make them blink. Now I use it for the people they used to fight.
