01How It Works

One essay. One scholarship.

To apply, write a 500 word essay answering one question: describe a time someone stood up for you, or you stood up for someone else, and how it shaped who you are today. Standing up for people is what this firm does. We want to hear how you do it too.

EligibilityWho can apply

  • You are currently enrolled in, or planning to attend, a college, university, trade school, or graduate program in the United States.
  • You can provide proof of enrollment; a transcript or an acceptance letter works.
  • The essay is entirely your own work.
  • If you are under 18, include contact information for a parent or guardian.

Essays are reviewed by our scholarship committee on content, creativity, and grammar. Applicants who do not follow the requirements are automatically disqualified. Employees of J. Alexander Law Firm and their immediate family members are not eligible.

02From Josh Alexander

This scholarship is brand new, and honestly, that’s what I’m most excited about. The first chapter of this firm was built on showing up for people on their worst days. This is us showing up earlier; for students who are still writing their first chapter. School is expensive, and $1,000 won’t cover everything. But it’s real money toward your books, your housing, your shot. I can’t wait to read these essays, and I can’t wait to see what you do with where you’re going.
