We Recovered the Full $50,000 Policy Limit for a Driver Hit by a Red Light Runner in La Porte
In 2023, a red light runner in a full size pickup struck our client’s SUV at a signal controlled intersection in La Porte, Harris County. She had the green light.
The crash report listed her as “Not Injured” and no ambulance came. She went to the emergency room the next morning and spent months in treatment. The pickup driver’s insurance company paid the full $50,000 policy limit, and no lawsuit was ever needed.
A Red Light Runner Hit Her Right Side
It was about 6 in the morning, still dark, with the streetlights on and clear weather. Our client was driving her SUV west through the intersection of the southbound SH 146 frontage road and Fairmont Parkway, belted, on a green light. A full size pickup heading south went through the red light and hit the right side of her SUV. Her front and side curtain airbags deployed. La Porte Police investigated and wrote this in the report.
Unit 1 was traveling southbound on SH 146 frontage road approaching the intersection. Unit 2 was traveling westbound through the intersection on Fairmont and had the green light. According to the witness unit one disregarded the red light and struck unit 2. Unit 1 is the at fault vehicle.
The officer listed the pickup driver’s contributing factor as “Disregard Stop and Go Signal,” named the pickup the at fault vehicle, and cited its driver for disregarding a red light. A witness had told the officer the pickup ran the light. Photos show heavy intrusion into the SUV’s right rear door and quarter panel. Running a signal shows up often in these reports. Across the 2025 TxDOT records in our T bone crash index, officers listed “disregard stop and go signal” in 13,420 T bone crash reports, 19.6% of them, about one in five.
The Report Said “Not Injured”
The crash report coded both drivers “N,” which on the Texas crash report means Not Injured. No ambulance took our client anywhere. That code is the officer’s call at the scene, made in the first minutes after an accident.
A code on a form does not decide what happened to a person’s body. Pain and bruising can show up hours or a day later, and the medical record is what documents them. The crash report decoder on our site translates each CR-3 code and its limits.
The Emergency Room the Next Morning
The next morning she walked into an emergency room with neck, back and hip pain. She had bruising on her arms, her side, her hip and her shin. She had CT scans, was diagnosed with a neck sprain and contusions, and was sent home with medication.
Over the following months she had about nine weeks of chiropractic care alongside pain management care, MRIs, and one injection in her lower back late in 2023. Afterward she reported significant relief, and her pain clinic told her to come back only if she needed to.
How We Reached the Full Limit
Fault was clear from the witness, the officer’s findings and the citation. The work was proving her injuries with the medical record and reaching the full limit without filing a lawsuit.
The first call and the letters
Someone from intake answers her kind of call at any hour, in Spanish or English. The day a client signs with us, our letters reach the insurance company, and from there it deals with us. You can bring your questions to anyone on our team.
The report, the witness and the citation
We gathered the crash report, the witness account and the citation, which together made the red light clear. We handle T bone accident claims across Texas, and a liability record this clean lets the work turn to the injuries.
One case manager and the medical record
Every client gets one case manager, who checks in with an update every 14 days or sooner. Here that meant collecting the emergency room visit, the chiropractic care, the MRIs and the pain management records, so the story of her treatment was complete and in order.
The demand and the full limit
The attorney set the demand and approved every offer, while our negotiator dealt with the adjuster directly. Our Houston car accident team serves Harris County, La Porte included. The insurance company paid out every dollar of its $50,000 limit.
$50,000 Recovered Every Dollar the Policy Allowed
$50,000
All of the policy, resolved before suit
This is the gross amount, and attorney fees and case expenses were deducted before our client’s share. Her result rests on the facts of her accident and cannot forecast how another case will end.
